VIMFF Youth Photography Competition
The VIMFF Photographic Competition (https://vimff.org/vimff-2019-photography-competition/) has a youth category this year! Photos should be MOUNTAIN Landscape/Sport Related. There is a $200 cash prize for this category, announced at the Chris Burkard evening (field trip pending). The official submission deadline is February 3. Though they will extend this by a couple of days.
The VIMFF is offering two free entries per Carson student. Just enter "Carson" in the discount code field. You can then pay the fee for any extra images you want to submit. To be considered for the Youth prize, you need to be under 17, and enter your age in the form. Older students are still welcome to enter using the discount.

Sign into a computer and look through the Powerpoint about the History of Photography attached in the button link below. You may also go online and research the History of Photography.

Use the timeline template that the TOC has photocopied to list the most important inventions and events in history in chronological order.

On the back write 3 paragraphs, each listing an event or invention in photography which impresses you the most and has had the most impact on your life today.

Course Outline
The aim of the Photography 12 course is to provide students with opportunities to further develop their skills and knowledge in visual arts, and photography. Students will explore a range of subject matter through studio activities, outdoor adventures and will consolidate their practical skills in the darkroom and digital darkroom. Students will also analyze art works and study aspects of art history, as well as current art forms from Canada and other parts of the world. Instruction will include the use of the film cameras, darkroom equipment, digital camera and image manipulation software (Photoshop). Students will blend shooting and manipulation techniques to produce stylized and multi-image works.
